The Vineyard

The Vineyard

The vineyard is protected by two rows of roses luring away any unwelcome visitors of the animal kingdom with their multicolored siren calls. The rest of the vineyard, with sturdy vines growing amidst rainbow colored wildflowers with heady fragrances, under the gentle gaze of the rolling hills, continues to grow and ripen the fruit that forms the essence of the Ragavino wine family.
The vineyard is now mature, but seems ageless, as it produces a  bountiful annual harvest of fruit which is then processed in a winery in the Santa Cruz hills and aged in barrels that confer the complex flavors that make the wine unique. Every vintage now since the 2005 vintage has yielded an exciting and light, delicious Cabernet Sauvignon with different pleasing flavors.
The vineyard attracts the surrounding birds and animals but the vineyard managers ensure that techniques to protect the vineyard allow nature to  enjoy its beauty as well without harming any creatures.  Extra measures are used to ensure that organic materials are used and water is conserved and used only as needed.
Coastal Range’s Director of Vineyard Operations, Nick Painter, has been managing the vineyard and Peter Kirchner has been the winemaker for over 15 years.  Both are dedicated and passionate professionals, and masters of their crafts.
